About Ortho-Bionomy and Matrix Repatterning
60 minute sessions,$120 (discounts available for fragrance-free clients)
Sessions with me combine Ortho-Bionomy, of which I am an associate member in practitioner training, and Matrix Repatterning, which I am currently studying.
Ortho-Bionomy is a gentle bodywork technique that promotes healing and balance using light touch and guided movements, and by finding positions of comfort and ease to help the proprioceptive nervous system release tension and restore alignment.
Matrix Repatterning gently releases deep, hidden tension from old injuries by restoring balance to your body's interconnected framework. It addresses the cellular expansion of bones and tissues, harnessing piezoelectric energy to resolve the altered electrical patterns that perpetuate pain and restriction.
Sessions are done with clothes on.

Orthobionomy uses gentle holds and positions to put the body in positions of comfort and ease, to help the body remember how to relax and release restrictions.
The practitioner will often ask the client questions to determine the most comfortable position to do the release in such as “Which position is more comfortable? Position A? Or position B?”
The practitioner will often use light compression or traction which cues the body’s proprioceptive nervous system into what’s happening. Each hold generally takes between 10-60 seconds to produce results. The practitioner will also often ask the client to move the area that was being worked on around after the release to integrate and assess the effect of the release.
Matrix Repatterning Sessions:
“Assessment involves a detailed examination of bone size and shape, ranges-of-motion, joint stability, tissue tone, nerve function, and other objective tests. A bio-electric scan, using a breakthrough magnetic device (MatrixMag™ Scanner), is also performed to detect the electrical changes caused by injury, and confirm the precise location of Primary Restrictions. Your practitioner can demonstrate potential improvement, even before treatment begins, and recommend a treatment plan to resolve your condition.
Treatment involves gentle manual therapy combined with bio-electric stimulation provided by the MatrixMag™ Scanner. Each area may be treated in a variety of directions and a series of sessions may be necessary to release the entire pattern and restore optimal structural balance. Although treatment is gentle and painless, some people may experience temporary, mild-to-moderate symptoms following treatment, as the body adapts to the profound changes.”Sessions are given fully clothed.

Most people find both Ortho-Bionomy and Matrix Repatterning deeply, uniquely, and interestingly relaxing. Ortho-bionomy works with the nervous system and puts the body in positions of comfort that it is almost never held in.
It is often so relaxing that people become sleepy and don’t want to get up from the table.
People often feel a decrease in pain and an increase of lightness, mobility, and looseness.
Many clients also describe receiving Matrix Repatterning as profoundly calming and report feeling a noticeable release of tension, increased mental clarity, and better sleep following their session. While the work is subtle, it's common to feel a significant sense of lightness, improved mobility, and greater connection to your body afterward. Occasionally, as your body integrates the deep changes, you might experience a temporary, mild "ghost" of an old symptom, but this typically fades as your body repatterns.

FAQ

Ortho-Bionomy sessions are given with the client fully clothed, so please wear clothing that is comfortable and easy to move in (such as sweat pants or workout pants. Jeans and khakis are often too restrictive.)
If you are able to finish eating at least 30-60 minutes before your session starts, that would be ideal so that your body is not exerting energy digesting during the session, but no big deal if that timing doesn’t work out! Stay hydrated and bring a water bottle if you can.
Because Ortho-Bionomy works with the nervous system, it is beneficial if you can keep from engaging in physically or mentally strenuous activity after your session for the rest of the day, at least as much as possible.
In order to keep the space accessible to those with chemical sensitivities, please arrive to the session fragrance-free. More details on that can be found on the fragrance-free page. Thank you!

30-minute free sample sessions:
I offer 30-minute free sample sessions for new clients so you can find out whether sessions with me are a good fit.
60 minute sessions:
Fragrance-Free Discount: $100 (You already use only fragrance-free products — OR you complete the switch to 100% fragrance-free before your session. This means every single product you put on your body or that touches your clothes is labeled "fragrance-free" — and you use them continuously in daily life, not just on session days. You never intermittently use any fragranced products, even between sessions.)
Transition discount (first 3 sessions after switching): $80 — For clients newly switching to 100% fragrance-free — your first 3 sessions after completing the switch are discounted an extra $20 each = $60 total saved to put toward new products. This discount applies only when you commit to using fragrance-free products for every single product, continuously in daily life, going forward — without ever intermittently using fragranced products.
Standard Rate: $120 — For clients who have not yet transitioned to fragrance-free products continually, outside of sessions. (You still need to arrive as fragrance-free as possible using the trial approach outlined in the Fragrance Free Policy page under “Option 1”— but you are not yet committing to 100% fragrance-free products between sessions.)
I accept cash, Venmo (@ya-ping-douglass), and personal checks.
I do not accept tips.

To ensure a safe and effective session for everyone, my studio space is 100% fragrance-free.
This means that you are arriving to the session with no chemical fragrances on your body or clothes.
Fragranced products include: deodorants, laundry detergents and products, shampoos, conditioners, other hair products, lotions, perfumes, colognes, insect repellents, aftershave, sunscreen, and makeup. Basically, any product you put on your body—or that comes into contact with your clothes—needs to be fragrance-free.
A quick rule of thumb: If a product isn't labeled "fragrance-free," it almost certainly contains "fragrance" or "parfum” and is not safe to use.
Please read the two options for your session and use the checklist on the Fragrance-Free page to help you assess how to arrive fragrance-free!

I am happy to wear an N-95 mask during our sessions (you may indicate this preference in the session sign-up form.) I do not require all clients to mask during sessions. I do ask that clients not come in if they are sick or if they have known exposures.
The studio has an air filter and a screened window which can be opened for air circulation.
About my exposure level:
I do not regularly mask in public spaces anymore. I have been vaccinated and have had several rounds of boosters. If I am showing the slightest signs of getting sick in any way or have had potential exposures I will contact you to see if you would like to keep or reschedule the session.

About Ya-ping
I graduated from The Massage School in 2018 and before starting my own practice worked at Elements Hot Tub and Spa as a massage therapist. I am an Associate member of the Society of Ortho-Bionomy International (SOBI) in Practitioner Training, am currently studying Matrix Repatterning, and have studied craniosacral therapy with Upledger Institute International.
As someone who has never enjoyed the “no pain, no gain” approach to massage, I was instantly drawn to Ortho-Bionomy and Matrix Repatterning for their emphases on the body's own ability to self correct and heal gently and painlessly. In addition to providing some of the quickest and most effective pain relief I’ve experienced, these modalities have regularly helped me access a level of relaxation unlike anything I’d experienced before.
Outside of sessions with clients, I am part of the FTP (For the People) Healing Collective of Western Mass. We would love to connect with others interested in bridging bodywork and organizing for police and prison abolition, anti-imperialism, and a free Palestine . Please reach out to the FTP Healing Collective if:
You’re part of a local group whose members could benefit from free bodywork.
You’re a fellow bodyworker or healing practitioner interested in collaborating to support local organizing efforts.
When I’m not practicing bodywork or participating in local organizing, I can likely be found either hanging out with my dog, Mochi, in the woods, rock climbing at the climbing gym, or clowning.
