About Ortho-Bionomy
60 minute sessions,$100
Ortho-Bionomy is a gentle bodywork technique that promotes healing and balance by using light touch and guided movements to help the body release tension and restore alignment. Sessions are done with clothes on.
-
Orthobionomy uses gentle holds and positions to put the body in positions of comfort and ease, to help the body remember how to relax and release restrictions.
The practitioner will often ask the client questions to determine the most comfortable position to do the release in such as “Which position is more comfortable? Position A? Or position B?”
The practitioner will often use light compression or traction which cues the body’s proprioceptive nervous system into what’s happening. Each hold generally takes between 10-60 seconds to produce results. The practitioner will also often ask the client to move the area that was being worked on around after the release to integrate and assess the effect of the release.
Sessions are given fully clothed.
-
Most people find Ortho-Bionomy deeply, uniquely, and interestingly relaxing. It works with the nervous system and puts the body in positions of comfort that it is almost never held in.
It is often so relaxing that people become sleepy and don’t want to get up from the table.
People often feel a decrease in pain and an increase of lightness, mobility, and looseness.

FAQ
-
Ortho-Bionomy sessions are given with the client fully clothed, so please wear clothing that is comfortable and easy to move in (such as sweat pants or workout pants. Jeans and khakis are often too restrictive.)
If you are able to finish eating at least 30-60 minutes before your session starts, that would be ideal so that your body is not exerting energy digesting during the session, but no big deal if that timing doesn’t work out! Stay hydrated and bring a water bottle if you can.
Because Ortho-Bionomy works with the nervous system, it is beneficial if you can keep from engaging in physically or mentally strenuous activity after your session for the rest of the day, at least as much as possible.
In order to keep the space accessible to those with chemical sensitivities, please do not wear perfume, cologne, or any strongly artificially or chemically scented products (essential oil fragrances are fine) to the session. Thank you!

About Ya-ping
I graduated from The Massage School in 2018 and work at Elements Hot Tub and Spa as a massage therapist. I am an Associate member of the Society of Ortho-Bionomy International (SOBI) in Practitioner Training and have studied craniosacral therapy with Upledger Institute International.
As someone who has never enjoyed the “no pain, no gain” approach to massage, I was instantly drawn to Ortho-Bionomy for its emphasis on the body's own ability to self correct and heal gently and painlessly. In addition to providing some of the quickest and most effective pain relief I’ve experienced, Ortho-Bionomy has regularly helped me access a level of relaxation unlike anything I’d experienced before.
I am especially excited to connect with others interested in bridging bodywork and organizing for police and prison abolition, anti-imperialism, and a free Palestine . I’d love to hear from you if:
You’re part of a local group whose members could benefit from free bodywork.
You’re a fellow bodyworker or healing practitioner interested in collaborating to support local organizing efforts.
When I’m not practicing bodywork or participating in local organizing, I can likely be found either hanging out with my dog, Mochi, in the woods, rock climbing at the climbing gym, or clowning.
